The fourth week of 2014 is coming to an end, and it is time to summarise this week's happenings at Enonic. Have you downloaded 4.7.5 yet?

    What happened this week?

    • Enonic CMS 4.7.5 was released yesterday. This release is a regular fix release with 20 improvements and 17 bug fixes to the existing functionality. Here is a list of the highlights.
    • We are trying out page/component rendering for 5.0 in a sample package on GitHub
    • Experimenting with template engines in 5.0. ESP (EcmaScript Server Pages), Thymeleaf, FreeMarker and custom language based on JSoup or AttoParser.
    • Fulltext search is now working in 5.0 UI. Looking forward for the new aggration-based facets in UI.
    • Enonic 5 portal now rendering pages and sub-components using serverside javascript
    • Sample trampoline site is taking form on new rendering engine. See GitHub
    • Created the first GUI tests for 5.0, using the Geb framework.
    • Our consultant team have written a nice article about creating fluid layouts the right way, using Flexbox. Read the article here.
    • Bobby has done some deep analysing with the Chrome Developer Tools
    • Dag has been experimenting with the use of Less for creating responsive sites super fast.
    • From version 4.7.5 of Enonic CMS, JPEGs can be served progressively encoded for smoother loading of images. There are, however, problems incorporating this into a responsive website. Read more about these challenges here.
    • Gjensidige is silently releasing their new routine "database" in production for their intranet.  See a screenshot below.
    • A new round of training courses is starting soon. We still have some available seats, sign up now!
