This week at Enonic (2014, week 2)

Posted by

Welcome to "This week at Enonic". As you might have guessed, this will be a weekly (hopefully) update from our main office, with the aim of giving you more information on product updates, features in development, new website launches and upcoming events.

    What happened this week?

    • Lovisenberg diakonale høgskole has launched their new responsive web, built on Enonic CMS. Check it out at http://www.ldh.no
    • Starting this week, we will start posting a lot more articles on our blog. The main feature articles will continue to roll out every now and then, but in addition we will try to publish smaller posts on a weekly basis (including sneak peeks at the groundbreaking 5.0).
    • The Q/A department has been putting the finishing touches to the code and prepared for testing the 4.7.5 release.  This release currently contains 17 product improvements and 17 bug fixes.
    • We have also looked at new testing frameworks for GUI testing and will start a POC with Geb next week.
    • The developers are working hard on finalising the next milestone (M4) of 5.0. Milestone 4 will include a prototype on a scriptable portal.
    • Automatic gzip support is implemented and will be available from 4.7.5. Read more about this update in this labs article.
    • Our consultant Dag has some thoughts on how LESS can be used to write better semantic HTML. Read his blog post.
    • Support for progressive JPEG has been added in 4.7.5, but we are seeing browser related problems incorporating these into the responsive STK. Progressive JPEGs aren't loaded progressively by the browser when they replace placeholder images. More research will be performed next week.
    • A new round of training courses is starting soon. We still have some available seats, sign up now!
